PatientsGuide asked:
www.hairremovaljournal.org – Dr. Eric Bernstein discusses how lasers interact with melanin pigment in the hair follicle in order to achieve hair reduction. Lasers of certain wavelengths are able to be absorbed by the melanin in the hair but not absorbed by the skin. This allows the laser to send the follicle into its telogen or “resting” phase. In this phase, the hair shrinks and falls away from the follicle which remains in its telogen phase for months or years.
